How to choose an earbuds case
Earbuds get lost and broken in ordinary ways: they go in a gym bag, a jacket pocket, a boat, a beach towel. A case has to solve three separate problems, and the right one for you depends on which of them you actually have.
Carry. If the charging case lives loose in a bag, a clip ring or keyring case keeps it attached to something you will not lose. If it lives in a pocket, a slim case adds the least bulk. A lanyard case is the answer when you are moving and want your hands free.
Water and grit. Our waterproof and Total Protection ranges seal the charging case so sand, dust and water stay outside it. This matters most around pools, boats and job sites, where the failure is rarely a single dramatic event and usually grit working its way into the hinge.
Fit. AirPods generations look alike and are not interchangeable. AirPods 3 and AirPods 4 take different cases, and AirPods Pro Gen 1 and Gen 2 differ again. If you are not certain which pair you own, check the model first — it takes a moment and it is the single most common reason a case does not fit.

Which Catalyst case fits my AirPods?
Cases are made per generation and are not interchangeable — AirPods 3 and AirPods 4 take different cases, and AirPods Pro Gen 1 and Gen 2 differ again. If you are unsure which pair you own, our find my model guide identifies them from the markings on the charging case.
Do you make cases for Beats Studio Buds and Google Pixel Buds?
Yes. This collection includes cases for Beats Studio Buds and Google Pixel Buds alongside the AirPods range, so you can shop them in one place rather than by brand.
Can I attach the case to a bag, a lanyard or my keys?
Yes. The clip ring, keyring and lanyard cases are made for exactly that, and the standing case is designed to sit upright on a desk instead. They fit the same earbuds — the difference is only how you carry them.
What is the difference between the slim and the sealed cases?
The slim case is a minimal cover that adds almost no bulk and is the right choice if your charging case lives in a pocket. The waterproof and Total Protection ranges seal the charging case instead, which adds some size and is the right choice around water, sand or dust.
Not sure which generation you have? Our find my model guide walks through identifying your AirPods, iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad from the markings on the device itself. There are also AirPods instruction manuals and FAQs if you already have a case and need fitting help.
